Abstract: On behalf of the Architecture and Infrastructure Committee (AIC), we are pleased to announce the completion and release of the Practical Guide to Service Oriented Architecture (PGFSOA) v1.1. Please find the PGFSOA attached to this transmittal letter. Developed by the AIC’s Services Subcommittee, the PGFSOA v1.1 is designed to assist Federal chief architects and CIOs in adopting SOA best practices to advance agencies’ missions, meet demanding compliance requirements, introduce more agility into their architecture, and optimize IT architectures. Implementing Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) enables information sharing to become easier. The PGFSOA v1.1 discusses how to employ services to establish a flexible architecture to simplify delivery of government services by enabling collaboration and access to services across organizational boundaries.
