Government 2.0: Privacy and Best Practices

Abstract: This report summarizes the Government 2.0 Privacy and Best Practices public workshop conducted by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Privacy Office on June 22-23, 2009. The workshop brought together leading academic, private sector, and public sector experts to help federal agencies explore best practices for the use of social media technologies to further President Obama's Transparency and Open Government Initiative. The DHS Privacy Office also invited interested parties to submit written comments on government use of social media. The comments and workshop transcript are posted on the DHS Privacy Office website.
