IT Reform at the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers
Posted by Robert Kazimer
The past few months have put the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in the spotlight as natural disasters have impacted our Nation. Assisting State and local officials responding to floods, tornadoes, and storms has demanded an agile and comprehensive response from the U.S. Government. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is one Federal agency on the forefront of that response.
As part of a Department of Defense effort, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is analyzing the shift of some services to the cloud to better collaborate with other government agencies and gain efficiencies. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has fully embraced the Federal CIO’s 25 Point Implementation Plan to Reform Federal IT Management as a means to improve our ability to better serve the public. We’ve turned a critical lens inward by embracing TechStats with the purpose of reviewing and adjusting major IT Initiatives.
These efforts have been challenging at times, but we’ve seen and experienced increased efficiencies and are making tough choices. We will continue to improve our ability to meet our mandates and employ more agile and responsive IT, while decreasing costs and increasing efficiency.
