Join the National Dialogue on .gov Websites
Today the government launches an online discussion between web experts and the public on how to revamp .gov websites. The National Dialogue on Improving Federal Websites is part of the White House and General Service Administration’s Campaign to Cut Waste, an initiative to streamline how the government delivers information and services online. A .gov Task Force comprising Chief Information Officers, web managers, and other key personnel is overseeing the national web strategy for .gov websites—to reinvent them as more useful, robust, and frustration-free experiences for citizens.
This National Dialogue will inform the web strategy, which addresses an overarching question: “What practices, policies, and principles should guide Federal websites?”
How You Can Participate
The Dialogue will invite experts, innovators, and citizens to weigh in on topics such as:
1) Content: Is the content on .gov websites useful, readily accessible, and well-organized?
2) Search: Are citizens able to quickly find what they’re looking for?
3) Mobile and social media: How can the government leverage these channels more
4) Services: How can the government improve its online service delivery?
5) Best practices: How should the government update its web policies and best practices?
The Dialogue begins on September 19, 2011, at 2PM ET here and runs through September 30.
