Bill Vajda

Mr. Bill Vajda

Chief Information Officer, U.S. Department of Interior

William E. Vajda joined the U.S. Department of the Interior (DOI) as the eighth CIO on March 4, 2019. Mr. Vajda’s extensive experience includes over 25 years of executive IT leadership in the private sector, international organizations, and in city, state, and federal government. As the DOI CIO, Mr. Vajda leads the Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO) and is responsible for the management and oversight of Interior’s $1+ billion information management and technology (IMT) portfolio.

Mr. Vajda holds a Master’s Degree in Public Policy from The University of Michigan. He is the recipient of the U.S. Presidential Meritorious Rank Award, the National Security Agency Director’s Distinguished Service Medal, and the State of Michigan Excellence in Technology Award.
