This Administration has placed a significant emphasis on improving the way that the Federal Government serves American Citizens and recognizes that IT Modernization is a key component to provide Americans the services they deserve. The President directed the creation of a report on the modernization of Federal IT in EO 13800.

The Federal Government pays over two million civilian federal employees every two-weeks, on time and at a relatively low cost. Some of the payroll systems running today, however, are in their fourth decade of operation and lack the ability to adapt and address the ever evolving legislative changes.

The Office of Management and Budget (OMB) is proposing a new policy to address Federal agencies’ implementation of Identity, Credential, and Access Management (ICAM) - the security disciplines that enable the right individual to access the right resource, at the right time, for the right reason. This updated policy reflects OMB’s commitment to the direction and vision outlined in the December 2017 Report to the President on IT Modernization.

On March 29, the Chief Information Officers Council (CIOC), supported by the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) and U.S. Office of Management and Budget (OMB), hosted a Women in Federal Information Technology and Cybersecurity event at the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Jefferson Auditorium.
